As your self-help guru, I thought it was time to check in and see if you have your New Years’ Resolution list made out yet. How does it look? Is it about the same as last year:
ÂÂ
- I will lose weight
- I will stop smoking
- I will make more money this year
- Blah, blah, blah blah
At this point, I feel compelled to use the words of Dr. Phil and say, - how’s that working out for you?
If your resolutions are the same from year to year, and you still haven’t reached your goals, it’s time to try something different – Just GO FOR THE GUSTO for once! And stop this silly resolution crap!
OK, I’ll get off my New Years Resolution bandwagon and give you some hints on what you should be doing. And, as the year goes on, I’ll keep giving you hints until you actually reach your goals.
What I mean by Go for the Gusto is to stop making lists and start just doing different things to see what might work for you. Maybe get a new hairstyle, or join a Toastmasters club to get better at Public Speaking – or just speaking in general.ÂÂ
I joined at the last job I was in, and at first it was a little daunting, but then, I noticed that I was getting more complements every time I spoke. If I had never put away my fears for once, I never would have known how good I actually was!
Some other things you can do:ÂÂ
If you hate your current job, start by revising your resume. And, don’t just put down the same ole stuff. Put down the things that you have done that are important to the job you WANT to have.ÂÂ
Once you start writing everything down, you might just discover what you really want to do.ÂÂ
ÂÂ
Make a few simple life changes for starters. If your marriage now seems more like a roommate situation, start cuddling more and doing more romantic things. Vow to make it like New Love again.ÂÂ
Don’t just resolve to lose weight. Resolve to eat more greens or take a half hour walk a day.ÂÂ
Another simple but important step you can take is to stop and breathe each day. Yes, simply breathe! Start at 5 minutes a day and breath slowly, pretend that your breath is coming into your nose, and making a circular path through your diaphragm and back out, letting ALL the air out each time. Do this until you work up to about 30 breaths.ÂÂ
You probably won’t believe it, but just breathing deeply can help you feel less stressed. It somehow activates the relaxation response.
OK, I could go on and on, and I will, but I know that your reading time is limited, so stay tuned to this newsletter this year. I’ll have more information on Dreaming, Lucid Dreaming, Hypnosis and other information that will help you make the best of the year.
Remember, no more resolutions! Take baby steps until you feel like the person you’ve always wanted to be!
Happy New Year!
